Information on heart disease:

What do you mean by heart disease?

Heart disease is a cardiovascular disease that affects the function of heart to circulate fresh oxygenated blood to the cells in the body. Heart disease can be a cause of any disorder or disability in formation of the structure of the heart even before birth. It may also happen due to presence of certain substances in the blood cells or other parts that supply enough blood to the heart.

Types of heart diseases:

1. Congenital heart failure
2.
Coronary artery disease
3. Heart attack
4. Pericardial disease
5. Aorta disease
6. Heart valve disease
7. Vascular disease

Causes of heart disease:

The major causes of heart diseases are blood pressure, too much cholesterol, disorder of the heart and defects formed in the organs that supply blood to the heart. Any cardiovascular disease can be treated either by medication or surgery, unless there is a major disorder that can even be fatal. High blood pressure is one of the major causes detected. Sometimes the arteries and veins get affected due to formation of fatty substances in the blood that block the supply of blood to the heart muscle. Smoking affects lungs and also increases the risk of suffering from heart attacks. Physical inactivity affects the cardiovascular functions of the heart, which is very unhealthy as it gives rise to deposit unwanted fats in the blood cells that can affect the blood supply. Being overweight can cause other cardiovascular diseases. Diabetes affects the balance of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL), which are present due to cholesterol, thus affecting the blood flow and damaging the heart muscle. This often leads to heart attacks. Heredity can cause heart diseases. Disorder in the heart rhythm often leads to stroke or heart disease.

Symptoms of heart diseases:

Heart diseases can often have no specific symptoms hence termed as a "silent killer" in medical terms. Some of the discomforts happen due to stress or inactivity and often are ignored as heart disease symptoms. There may be some complications of the heart, which you are unaware of. Aging often welcomes diseases. Statistics indicate that men suffer more from cardiovascular diseases than women. Symptoms always alert a person and more care if taken should avoid any future complications.
